Support BOSIA through Kitsap Great Give April 10 – 24th, 2018

Some of you know that BOSIA has in years past participated in The Seattle Foundation’s GiveBig donor day for non-profits. We typically encouraged scholarship donors to make their annual contributions then, which gave us all a deadline and added funds from the matching pool funds. Since scholarship donations constitute our largest funding, this worked well for us. Last year the rules changed, removing the matching funds for non-profits outside of King County, which left us with higher expenses for contributions received this way than those received in any other way. This did not work as well for us.
This year we have registered with the Kitsap Community Foundation’s similar program, called Great Give. KCF’s match pool will allow us to “earn” a few percent on donations received, even taking into consideration the fees, so it seems more like what GiveBig used to be for us. We will be making individual contact with scholarship donors, but all of those who support the Sister Islands Association are certainly invited to participate in this way of giving. Unless you email us separately to say what BOSIA program you want your gift to support, your gift will be used by the BOSIA board where the need is greatest. (The Great Give platform has no way to allow donors to specify programs within a non-profit that they would like to support.)
Donations through Great Give can be made starting April 10th, but will be listed only on Tuesday, April 24th, the actual Great Give day. Donations can be made on the 24th from midnight to midnight, but will not be accepted after that. Although they have not put the donation button in place yet, d onations will be made through the home page of the Great Give (link:
There are two “Browse by … ” headings at the top of the home page: by Category and by Area. BOSIA is under “community involvement” by category and under “Bainbridge Island” by area. A wonderfully diverse and eye-opening spectrum of Kitsap County-based non-profits are featured, and donations can be made to multiple agencies. For information on that procedure, the Frequently Asked Questions heading (link:  ) covers that under “Can I Donate to All of my Favorite Nonprofits in One Transaction?”
The Sister Islands Association is fortunate to have donors who are connected and supportive of what we do. We thank you for all the ways you contribute to our mission, and if this way of giving appeals to you, we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity.
