Fifth graders and second graders at The Island School teamed up to produce the calendar that Bainbridge Islanders love to support each year at this time. The “Kids Can Make A Difference” calendar is now in its 23rd year, and raises money for projects on our sister island in Ometepe, Nicaragua through construction projects, library and school supplies, scholarships, and more. This year’s calendar features Aquatic Animals of Ometepe and Bainbridge.
Watch for young salespeople on the streets of Winslow. Student artists will sell calendars at Blackbird Bakery, Safeway, Town and Country and Ace Hardware on November 25, 26 and 27 and December 3-4 and 10-11. Calendars are available at Eagle Harbor Books and Bay Hay & Feed as well.
History of the project: After third grade teachers Boo Schneider (Ordway) and Alice Mendoza (Wilkes/Ordway) both retired, the project was passed on to the children at The Island School in 2014.
