“Our Silent World”, photos by deaf children on Ometepe, will be exhibited at The Treehouse restaurant during September and October. Included in the exhibition are the original 30 photos plus an additional 20 that have only been made public once. The Bainbridge Photo Club members just could not resist printing what they were seeing even though they were only asked to print 30.
So many people have supported this project we hardly know where to begin with “thanks”, but the members of the photo club have to be at the top of the list–for the donation of the cameras of course, and for the amazing job they did printing and matting all these photos. Members of the delegation, and especially Brenda Berry for the wonderful video she created, would have to be next on the list. And our staff on Ometepe, without whom this project would not have been possible.
A delegation is going back to Ometepe in January, 2017 to continue the project. For more information about this project or the work of the Sister Islands’ Special Needs Committee, contact Dale Spoor.
Arnie Sturham, Treehouse owner, has been very supportive of this project. If you’re looking for a good place for lunch or dinner, try Treehouse and check out the photos.
The photo above, “Samuel’s Family”, is featured in the exhibit.
