2019 student delegation on hold due to political instability

The Sister Islands Association's Student  Delegation Committee has decided not to take applications for a 2019 delegation because of the continuing atmosphere of tension and political instability in Nicaragua. Last year, we were unable to send the group of students who had prepared all winter and spring to travel to Ometepe. It was a very difficult decision but as the level of violence

A 2012 delegate’s life lessons, Ometepe style

After returning from Ometepe with the 2012 Student Delegation, Clara Hayes happened on a quote by artist and storyteller Brian Andreas that defined her experience: "Most people don't know there are angels whose only job is to make sure you don't get too comfortable and fall asleep and miss your life." For Clara, Ometepe was that angel.

Out with ivy!

For the past several years, the student delegation has taken on a community service project on Bainbridge, in addition to the work they do on Ometepe. The 2012 student delegation's contribution to Bainbridge: volunteering to pull ivy at the Housing Resource Board's Ferncliff Village.
