Calendar Kids’ 2020 project is a huge success

Second- and fifth-graders at The Island School have produced this year’s Kids Can Make A Difference calendar, with proceeds to benefit various projects on Ometepe. The theme of the 2019 calendar is "Highlights of Ometepe and Bainbridge Island." For the first time, Bainbridge students and those on Ometepe collaborated on producing the calendar. Students in Boo Schneider’s third-grade class at Ordway Elementary School surpassed their goal and raised $9,945 for projects on Ometepe with their 2013 "Kids Can Make a Difference" calendar.
Just a couple of years after some communities on Ometepe got electricity for the first time, all primary schools on the island will have laptops for students next year, thanks to a grant from Fundación Zamora Terán, a Nicaraguan NGO.
Third-graders in Boo Schneider's class at Ordway Elementary School on Bainbridge are celebrating the success of their 2011 calendar, which had a farm theme. Students made a profit of $10,385.
