A host family on Ometepe extends a welcome to their student delegate. Our office staff on Ometepe completes the introduction process by photographing each host family and sharing those photos with the student delegates.
Tickets are now on sale for the 2018 student delegation’s auction and dinner, which will begin at 5:30 pm. on Saturday, April 21, at The Island School, 8553 NE Day Road on Bainbridge. If you can’t attend, please consider making a tax-deductible donation. All proceeds go to projects on Ometepe island in Nicaragua.
For 29 years, the Bainbridge-Ometepe Sister Islands Association (BOSIA) has been sending an annual Student Delegation to Nicaragua. This June, 16 students and seven chaperones will travel to Ometepe, live with host families, and work on several community-based projects.
The delegates are raising funds this year to support their community projects during the trip and other established Sister Islands programs on Ometepe such as scholarships for college students from the island who are studying at universities in Nicaragua, education for deaf students, and library literacy projects.
To help accomplish our goals, we invite you to attend a fun-filled auction and dinner party with friends and neighbors. The event will include something for everyone, from the excitement of the Silent Auction to entertainment, talks discussing the Bainbridge Ometepe relationship, and plenty of food! Tickets are just $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Please note: If you buy an item or make a donation at the event, please be prepared to pay by cash or check. We won’t be able to accept credit cards.
Please join us to honor and support this rich cultural exchange and source of pride for both our islands.
